" The Hellish Resurrection " is one of those albums that is not looking for mass approval from Blitar City, East Java, Indonesia. Hell, it’s not even looking for general approval within the black metal community as we can see by the reviews on this site. Now, we could be merciful here and talk about how all of us are different, about how all of us have varying tastes when it comes to art. These beast sounds are present in-between songs and will serve as your only reprieve from the slaughter and rampage happening on here. this new material more aggressive and devastation, Of course, this is exactly what you’d expect from a band whose idea of a love song is a hymn to total annihilation, This approach leads to a high degree of homogeneity and the result is that the sonic battlefield leaves no chance to escape ! a unique selling point. It is not the strongest black metal album of all times, but the number of better genre full-lengths to day, There aren't any songs on this album that are slow by any means. It's high intensity, riffs are tremolo picked so fast it's amazing. They've got to be on speed to play this fast and relentlessly empowering, Aaaarrrghh !!!!!!!!!!!!
In a corner of the cosmos where even light is too lazy to visit, humans are busy shouting that they are already “enlightened,” already “awakened,” already “rejecting religion.” But when viewed from afar, they are just like children who have just discovered a lighter and feel smarter than the entire civilization. They say they want to be free from “monotheism,” but the funny thing is, as soon as they feel they have lost their authority figure, they immediately grab the most dramatic dark symbol: “The Great Satan” is not a creature, not a god, just a shadow puppet of human frustration. But humans? Ah, they always like to smell smoke and call it enlightenment.
Perhaps if the “Great Satan” really existed, not as a literal entity, but as a personification of all stupidity, he would have grown tired of seeing humans approaching him saying, “I reject religion, I worship darkness.” And the Great Satan, with a voice lazier than a broken alarm clock, would surely just reply, "I didn't even ask to be worshipped. I’m busy. The one who messes up your life is you, not me. But whatever, human drama is an old hobby.”
Human reject religion because they feel constrained. But then they elevate their own version of the “ruler of hell” as a symbol of freedom. Divine irony: escaping rules by creating new ones that are even more absurd. They say: “We reject a boring heaven.” But they don't realize that the hell they romanticize is just a dark room in their own heads, filled with cheap poetry, unchecked ego, and the fantasy that chaos is cool. As if mental destruction is a form of maturity. And when humans crown the “Great Satan” as ruler of the universe?
The vast cosmos, elegantly spinning galaxies, the laws of physics working neatly... then there is a group of edgy humans who raise their hands and shout that their ruler is a dark symbol created by their own imagination. The planets may whisper to each other: “Look at that species... they really believe their cell phone screens know more about darkness than the stars.” Meanwhile, the Great Satan sits on his “throne of hell,” which is really just a metaphor for the chaos of the human mind, complaining while lighting a cigarette: “I was just joking, but you took it seriously. Humans are indeed fanatical fans of the things they create themselves.”
In the end, they are not rejecting their religion, just changing their superstitious clothes. The only difference is the color: white before, black now. Both are costumes. And hell? If it really exists, it probably contains only a giant mirror, so that humans can finally see who is actually the source of the darkness they worship: “Themselves.” Humans like to say they are “rebelling.” They say they reject religion, reject light, reject rules. But when viewed from the outside, their rebellion is like a stray cat that thinks it's a tiger because it's standing on a pile of trash that happens to be a little higher than the ground. Once they feel they have successfully punched the empty air and proclaimed themselves “free,” they run naked toward the symbol of darkness they think is cool: the Great Satan, the king of metaphors, the edgy mascot, the poster boy of darkness for bored teenagers.
The great irony? They reject one God, but immediately create a new god with black paint. Human creativity can sometimes be embarrassing. This satirical version of “Maha Setan” is not a cosmic entity. He is merely a representation of how chaotic the human mind is, and humans, with all their carelessness, have crowned him as the “ruler of the universe.” Humans proudly proclaim: “We don't need heaven, we choose hell!” But what they choose is not hell. What they choose is merely a dark version of their own room, full of resentment, shattered egos, and black wallpaper that they consider “philosophical.”
They thought darkness was a form of wisdom. But their darkness was just an empty space that had not been tidied up. And when they crowned the Great Satan as ruler of the universe? The universe must have held back its laughter so as not to explode into a supernova. How could it not? Galaxies revolve with perfect mathematical harmony. Stars are born and die with more orderly discipline than human life. Black holes operate with an efficiency that even the largest corporations cannot replicate. Then humanity suddenly declares: “Its ruler is the dark symbol of our frustration!” The planets might exchange glances and say: “This creature is embarrassing. Let's pretend we don't know them.”
Meanwhile, in “hell,” a place that humans always dramatize, the Great Satan leans back while drinking stale coffee and mutters, “If this is the universe I have to rule, please wake me up when humans are done being clowns.” Because there is one thing humans don't want to admit: They are not rejecting religion. They are just replacing the ruler in their heads. Once light. Now darkness. Tomorrow, who knows maybe the kitchen cabinet.
And about hell? If it truly exists, it must be nothing more than a room filled with mirrors. So that humans are finally confronted with the true face of the “darkness” they worship: their own neglected egos.
